Hack Your Snacks: 12 Lifestyle Food Choices

Are you always on the go and find it hard to make time for healthy eating? Do you end up snacking on unhealthy foods because they are easy and convenient? Well, there are actually a lot of healthy foods that are quick and easy to prepare. In this blog post, we will share with you some of our favorite convenient healthy foods that are perfect for busy lifestyles. So whether you’re running to school or work, or just want something quick and healthy to eat, be sure to check out this blog post!

Before we get into this blood post I wanna share with you a little bit of background about Chinese medicine and food therapy. I feel it’s really important for us to understand how Chinese medicine uses food therapy in order to helping the body return back to balance. We hear a lot about nutritional therapy but we don’t hear enough about how therapeutics of foods can greatly impact our well-being.

Sun Simiao wrote the first text on Food Therapy in a book called, Prescriptions Worth 1000 Gold. His work comprised some of the earliest documented applications of dietary therapy.

Back in the day, he wanted to spread culinary knowledge so that when people were sick, they would turn to food rather than medications. There is a lot of debate about what foods are beneficial for what, but we really need to look at food and how it affects the body depending on its medicines. Young and natural foods, for example, raise the body’s temperature.

By “young in nature,” I mean things that are warming and spicy. Yang denotes the mountain’s brighter aspect.

So allow me to elaborate. Yang in nature is male and denotes light, dryness, fire, heat, and light, whereas Yen is feminine and represents dampness and cold, as well as the ground and night. Jung is an outsider, but Jan is an insider.

Chinese philosophers examined nature in ancient times, and everything seemed to be in a state of transition; nothing was ever constant, and everything was continually shifting. So, according to the Chinese, the human body is a Cosmo in miniature, an organism, and man is a micro system of the universe, and just as the earth is influenced by the seasons, the body is also impacted by an internal form of weather.

When it rains, for example, water saturates the earth and forms a swampy region. When the ground becomes stagnant and the water cannot move, odors develop and bacteria flourish. Adema is caused by water retention in the body, and the effect on the limbs is identical to what happens to the earth.

So let me offer you another example. Cold temperature impacts circulation, similar to how ice freezes the water in a lake or a stream. Wind can also infiltrate the body, causing tremors, as seen in Parkinson’s disease. Excess heat can cause symptoms such as the what we see in nature like an out-of-control roaring flame.

So, while this text suggests numerous food choices to eat that help keep the body alkaline, these suggestions are based on how alkalinizing the foods are to the system. However, for a more precise and individualized lifestyle program, it is recommended that you meet with a Chinese medicine doctor who can assist you in creating and customizing a protocol that is appropriate to your constitution.

Let’s get into those foods that I suggest to help keep the body healthy and snacks that you can take on the go. At the end of this blog I’m going to share with you my highest recommendations for those busy lifestyles. Do you want to keep it healthy nutrient dense and rich in minerals scroll down to the bottom for organic Whole Foods deliver to your door.

Time and time again, I run into that ambitious person who is going to juice for the first time for 30 days like Joe Cross in the movie Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. Um, bad idea. First of all, drastic choices like the one Joe Cross made invoke emotion and influence you to take action. Then halfway through, around day 10, you find that life is harder than you thought, just living on juice. Then you decide juicing wasn’t a great way to detox in the first place, and you never come back to doing it again.

Reversing disease, losing weight, or just getting healthy for the first time is a process. When done with skill, life is enjoyable. You don’t have to starve yourself while you detox. You do have to make smart choices and know the ins and outs. What sets me apart from everyone else who steps into a health plan blindfolded is my flawless process that requires focus, determination, and a smart game plan. If you are detoxing for the first time, these are the smart choices you can make for a more enjoyable experience.

Choosing whole-food snacks with many nutrients is an essential habit if you are detoxing for the first time. When done wisely, snacks can keep you full throughout the day and limit your unhealthy food cravings. Here are 12 choices to consider and make sacking on these choices a priority.

Snack on Edamame and drink green tea

Green tea is packed with antioxidants. Also, this cleansing tea is a gentle diuretic that can help relieve the body of toxins and reduce bloating. Additionally, green tea contains a special compound that helps speed up metabolism. Furthermore, snack on edamame soybeans today to boost your kidneys’ ability to remove toxins from the body.

 Eat avocado while detoxing

Try some Brazillian nuts and drink fresh-pressed pineapple juice or carrot juice.

Pineapple juice helps boost energy, improves digestion, and has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, snack on Brazil nuts that are rich in selenium to help clear toxic mercury out of the body.

Eat avocado and drink strawberry mint water.

Strawberry- and mint-infused water is a delicious blend and one of our most refreshing favorites. Slice a few strawberries and add a few sprigs of mint to some water, and chill for one hour for a refreshing cleanse. Meanwhile, avocados provide heart-healthy monounsaturated fats. Fortunately, these are anti-inflammatory and can reduce damage caused by inflammatory saturated fats.

Have yogurt and drink cranberry juice

Unsweetened cranberry juice supports a healthy urinary tract. However, make sure to avoid the highly sweetened varieties with added sugar. Yogurt—both unsweetened and plain—contains probiotics that benefit your digestion, skin, and immunity.

Eat broccoli and drink a glass of black tea

Black tea is rich in antioxidants and can cleanse the kidneys due to its diuretic properties. Additionally, broccoli contains a powerful antioxidant, researched for its ability to reduce the risk of cancer.

Eat hot peppers and drink coconut water

Ultra-hydration juice blend two cucumbers, two apples, a half cup of strawberries, and a few leaves of mint. Combine for a delicious beverage that helps reduce bloating and remove toxins. Then spice up your day with some hot peppers. They contain capsaicin, which helps boost the liver’s ability to detox. Mix them to salads, cook them with your favorite protein, or even add them to your juice if you’re feeling daring.

drink coconut water while detoxing

Add turmeric to your green smoothie.

A green smoothie provides you with fiber, plenty of detoxifying antioxidants, and healthy fats. It helps keep you fuller longer to prevent overeating or snacking on unhealthy foods. Blend one cucumber, two cups of spinach, two green apples, and half an avocado with a little almond milk or non-citrus juice. Then combine with turmeric, which is an anti-inflammatory spice to treat indigestion, liver problems, and ulcers. Even more, turmeric can be added to rice, eggs, and meats, and is often found in your favorite curries.

Get your hands on artichokes and drink cucumber water.

By adding just a few slices of cucumber to your drinking water, you get an ultra-refreshing taste while working toward your daily water goal. Artichokes stimulate bile production, helping the body digest more efficiently and eliminating fat.

eat Collard Greens for detoxing

Eat Collard Greens and Drink White Tea

White tea is unprocessed, unfermented tea that boasts antioxidants with anti-cancer properties. Combine with a salad rich in collard greens that help to reduce LDL cholesterol by reducing fat absorption in the GI tract.

eat berrie for detoxing

Pomegranate juice is high in potent antioxidants that improve the look of your skin and benefit your heart health. Also, goji berries are rich in vitamin C and other powerful antioxidants. Most noteworthy, these berries are so nutritionally potent they can actually repair damaged DNA.

Eat blueberries and drink lemon water.

Lemon water contains vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, and helps reduce the acidity in your body. Have one teaspoon of lemon in a room-temperature glass of water first thing in the morning. Next, onions have immune-boosting and antioxidant properties to help with detoxification, especially of the liver. blueberries contain a natural pain reliever that reduces inflammation and boosts the immune system.

Eat Seaweed

Seaweed is naturally high in iodine, a mineral that rarely occurs in most foods. It helps regulate hormones related to weight management and energy levels.

Eat Grapefruit and drink lettuce and orange juice.

Try romaine lettuce and orange juice blended in a smoothie. As a result, it’ll supercharge you with a ton of vitamin C and fiber. Furthermore, grapefruit has a unique fiber that helps remove toxic heavy metals from the body.
