Get Excited for Our “Essential Oil Recipe Guide”
This essential oil recipe guide is made up of various methods for you to enjoy. Essential oils are used in aromatherapy, and is a form of alternative medicine that employs plant extracts to support health and well-being.
Essential oils are plant-derived chemicals. The oils absorb the fragrance and taste of the herb or its “essence.” Every essential oil has a distinct fragrance due to the presence of unique aromatic compounds.
Distillation (via steam and/or water) or mechanical processes, such as cold pressing, are used to extract essential oils. After the aromatic chemicals have been removed, they are mixed with a carrier oil to produce a ready-to-use formula.
The method by which the oils are produced is critical since essential oils obtained by chemical methods are not considered true essential oils.
3 Ways to Use Essential Oils
1. Total body discomfort
In between care, essential oils are supportive when used often. At ChiC Wellness, we provide you with careful instruction on how to use essential oils in your home. We also include the use of essential oils in our Touch Therapy Concierge Service.
2. Head tension
Head tension may vary from moderately irritating to crippling discomfort, caused by sinuses, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, food and hydration, and even stress. The source of the head tension must be determined to rule out something dangerous and to help avoid recurrences, so when head tension strikes, immediate pain relief is needed. My number one recommendation is acupuncture therapy for head tension and in between treatments use essential oils. You can get acupuncture on a sliding scale at our pop-up acupuncture session and use these essential oils in between treatments.
- Peppermint oil is calming for head tension because of its cooling and soothing properties. Peppermint should be massaged onto the location of discomfort, such as sinus pressure, with a carrier oil to help relieve head tension pain. It can also help to alleviate head tension brought about by odor.
- Researchers are investigating the modes of action of chamomile in view of its common application for head tension relief. Roman chamomile, both as a herb and as an essential oil, is well-known for its calming properties and is useful for head tension relief.
- Lavender essential oil is beneficial simply by inhalation and is calming in cases of agitation and useful when sleep is disrupted. Lavender provided outstanding discomfort relief in a placebo-controlled study when used as a quick inhalation.
3. INFLAMMATORY ILLNESS
Many debilitating disorders, including trauma and persistent disease, are caused by inflammation. When it comes to pain relief, anti-inflammatory oils are important.
- The fact that lavender is an anti-inflammatory essential oil contributes to its pain-relieving properties.
- Melissa (lemon balm) essential oil has been tested in the lab and has demonstrated some efficacy against inflammation and swelling.
- Monoterpenes are a kind of terpene. Any essential oil containing monoterpenes–which, according to one report, may account for up to 90% of essential oils–has some degree of anti-inflammatory capacity. So go ahead and have fun!
