Reprogramming the Subconscious: EFT Self-Help Technique

Acupressure and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) are two powerful practices that have gained popularity recently for their potential to promote physical and emotional well-being and improve your subconscious mind. These techniques are rooted in ancient Eastern healing traditions and offer alternative approaches to address various health concerns.

What is EFT

Acupressure, derived from traditional Chinese medicine, involves applying pressure to specific points to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. These points, known as acupoints, are believed to be connected to channels or meridians through which vital energy flows.

By targeting these points, acupressure aims to restore balance and harmony in the body, relieve pain, reduce stress.

AKA Tapping

On the other hand, EFT, also known as “tapping,” combines elements of traditional Chinese medicine with modern psychology. It involves tapping on specific meridian points while focusing on an issue or emotion. This process is believed to release blocked energy and alleviate emotional distress, such as anxiety, phobias, trauma, and limiting beliefs. EFT is often described as a form of psychological acupressure, as it merges physical stimulation with cognitive processes.

Both acupressure and EFT are non-invasive and can be practiced by individuals on their own or with the guidance of trained practitioners. They offer a holistic approach to healing, aiming to address the root cause of imbalances rather than just treating symptoms.

Energy well being

In this ever-evolving world of wellness, acupressure and EFT provide individuals with accessible tools to support their physical and emotional well-being. These techniques offer unique avenues for self-care and personal growth, whether used as stand-alone practices or in conjunction with other approaches. As we continue to embrace the integration of Eastern and Western philosophies, acupressure and EFT serve as reminders of the power within each of us to nurture our own health and well-being.

These techniques offer unique avenues for self-care and personal growth, whether used as stand-alone practices or in conjunction with other approaches.

Practice this to reduce Stress, Trauma, Depression, and Anxiety.

The first step is to turn off mobile devices and find a quiet spot to practice acupressure techniques. Once you become familiar with the process, it will be like the back of your hand! Have some water set aside, as well – during emotional freedom technique (EFT) sessions, drinking water is essential as it acts as a conductor for the body’s electrical system.

Acupressure and EFT are integrative, holistic techniques focused on preventative self-care care. They can help you to get past trauma, improve mental health challenges, shift feelings and emotions. The key to uninterrupted focus is drinking plenty of water and becoming familiar with the acupressure process.

Tuning in to the problem and focus with intention

Rate how bad the problem is on a scale of 0 to 10. These are the subjective units of the distress scale. Knowing this number is important because it immediately brings a problem into sharp.

Focus helps you connect mind-body and it enables you to gauge if there is any progress as you tap and then decide on a setup phrase.

For example, “Even though I have (stated the problem) I completely accept myself”.

Another set of words:

“Even though I have this pounding headache (be specific is the most important thing to remember), I deeply and completely love and accept myself”.

Tap for each separately if you have more than one issue such as a pounding headache and lower back pain.

Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDS)

Tuning in to the problem and focusing with intention helps you to make real progress. To begin, rate your current level of distress on a scale from 0 – 10, known as the Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDS). This will help clarify the issue and create a baseline for measuring potential progress. Regarding acupressure and EFT, it is essential to be specific! For example, tap on each separately if you have a headache and lower back pain. Make your setup phrase for tapping sessions as detailed as possible when crafting it. A good example might be: “Even though I have this pounding headache, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

Finding relief from the present moment can become more manageable when integrating acupressure and EFT into your healthcare routine. Integrative, holistic techniques like these are focused on preventative self-care, helping you to get past trauma, improve mental health challenges, shift feelings and emotions.

How to tap

Tapping pressure should be light and gentle. Using your fingertips, lightly tap at the points you have identified as needing attention. Repeat a reminder phrase that addresses the issue, such as “I release this headache” or “This stress is leaving my body.” Utilizing tapping can help align the mind’s healing capacity for maximum benefit. At each of these points, repeat the reminder phrase, which is a phrase that addresses problems like headaches, back pain, anxiety, and stress.

What if it doesn’t work

If tapping doesn’t seem to be working, don’t worry. All it means is that there may be an emotional reason behind the physical symptom or challenge you face, and it’s time to address it.

Start by asking yourself, “If there was an emotional cause for this headache, what would it be?” Say the first thing that comes to your mind the body knows without thinking about it too much. Just trust the process and go with whatever pops up in your thoughts.

It may be things like being overwhelmed or stressed, and I’ll worry about a recent argument, insecurity, or fear of failure. You can gain clarity and find a solution by exploring the thoughts and feelings related to your issue. Some people are surprised when guilt, self-hatred, not feeling worthy of a forgotten childhood memory, anger, or deep regret arise.

Once these deep-seated feelings are identified, it’s time to rewire the thoughts and energy surrounding them. Start by replacing the negative feeling with a positive reminder – such as “I am worthy of love and joy” or “My life is full of meaningful moments.”

By repeating this message repeatedly, you can begin to shift. This is where you need to trust your instinct and intuition and not overthink.

When you’re finished digging a little more deeply, figure out the first time you can remember feeling that feeling that comes up.

We tend to keep repeating the same pattern repeatedly, so you can be pretty sure that anything that comes up right now is just a variation of an old theme. So, whatever emotion does come up, it’s not the first time it has shown itself. It’s just the first time you’re taking a look at it.

Sit quietly, and try to remember a specific incident from your childhood where this emotion was a significant factor. There could be thousands of situations, but the important thing here is not to blame.

It is essential to identify when you first feel the negative emotion and tap on it to clear the disruption from your energy field.

The therapeutic benefits of acupressure and EFT

The therapeutic benefits of acupressure and EFT are undeniable. When used correctly, these practices can help us to get in touch with past traumas, improve mental health challenges, shift feelings and emotions naturally, and reclaim our lives. Tuning into the problem with intention and focusing on the specifics is key to making positive progress when using these modalities.

Additionally, Tapping pressure should remain gentle, and the reminder phrase should be repeated throughout to help rewire our minds and energy. If tapping doesn’t seem to work, it could point to an underlying emotional issue that needs further exploration. Taking steps to identify these deeper feelings and replacing them with positive affirmations is essential for us to reach a state of harmony between mind and body.
