Pressure Point Massage And How To Acupressure Points

Acupressure or pressure point massage clears meridians by applying mild but strong pressure to particular places along the energy lines known as acupoints. Endorphins, molecules that mute pain signals and encourage pleasant emotions, are released by the brain in reaction to pressure. Muscles relax and blood flows more easily when there is no pain. The body achieves equilibrium when stress dissipates.

Acupressure is not just a treatment; it is also a preventative strategy. Pressure administered strategically allows the body to withstand stresses and disease.

Acupoints

Acupoints are any specific points for needle insertion in acupressure. Acupuncture points per se have different physical effects according to location. Each acupoint possess a different sensation based on the body part which suffers from the pain or a specific problem. Local Points (LP), Distal Points (DP) and Tender points (TP) are the three types of acupsoints present on nociceptors and polymodal receptors. Activation of such receptors result in better effects on pain relief.

2. Stimulating The Kidney Meridian Using Acupressure Points

Associated Kidney Point (B 23): This pair of points is located on each side of the lower back, slightly above the upper rim of the sacrum. Lying on the floor with a tennis ball beneath you is the ideal method to apply strong pressure to these spots. Ideally, you should lay on two tennis balls inside a sock to stimulate both spots at the same time (see number 10 in illustration above). Place the pressure an inch and a half apart on either side of the spine.
