Coconut Milk And Hemp Seed Milk (Vegan)

The Combination Of Coconut Milk And Hemp Seed Milk Is Absolutely Delicious

This one’s for you, do-it-yourselfers. Have you ever wished to manufacture your own vegan milk that is free of gums, chemicals, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs)? There is no need to look any further!

Today, we’ll show you how to produce your own plant-based milk using just water, a blender or processor, and your choice of hemp seeds or coconut.

But first, a brief discussion of almond milk is in order.

Why Is Almond Milk Bad For The Environment

Why Is Almond Milk Bad For The Environment

We understand what you’re thinking. Why, if we’re talking about vegan milk, didn’t we include almonds in our recipe? After all, this wildly popular plant-based replacement to dairy milk can be bought in almost every supermarket. It seems to be an excellent option for nut milk.

So, when compared to dairy milk, we both believe that almond milk is a solid option. However, when compared to other vegan milks, it falls short.

What is the reason behind this? You may not realize it, but the almond trade is extremely harmful to the earth.

Water-Wasting Farm Practices

Growing almonds requires a LOT of water. According to Mother Jones, one almond requires around 1.1 gallons of water to develop! So, how much water it required to cultivate numerous almonds?

In an interview with The Guardian, the Sustainable Restaurant Association calculated that producing one liter of almond milk requires 1, 611 US gallons of water. That’s insane, isn’t it? But things go much worse.

Furthermore, over 80% of the world’s almonds are cultivated right here in sunny California. What exactly is the issue? We barely got it out of a seven-year drought (it officially ended just last year). Oh, no! We need to be more environmentally mindful.

Upheaval Of Natural Land

Unfortunately, the environmental impact of the almond-production business goes beyond water waste. To make place for almond orchards, businesses can destroy enormous swaths of natural land.

According to the Office of Sustainability at the University of San Francisco, firms plow these natural areas not just for new crops, but also for full irrigation systems to accommodate the massive water demands of almond cultivation. That’s a lot of ground leveling, as well as a lot of excavating and excavating.

Now, before you rush to the kitchen to deplete your almond milk jug, remember to conserve! Finish your jug as you usually would. If you can move from almond milk to another option later, do so. You might also check for more sustainable almond milk companies. Always cast your vote with your cash.

According to the Huffington Post, coconuts need less water than almonds, so buying coconut milk is a wonderful option. The own Co-Founder of Purium, Dave Sandoval advises hemp seed milk. (Yes, hemp seeds may make milk and oil.)

Let’s Make Best Vegan Milk

It’s time to make milk.

Coconut Milk Recipe

What You’ll Need:
coconut milk recipe
  • About two cups of shredded coconut, or 1 to 2 whole fresh coconuts
  • 3-4 cups water (depending on the desired consistency, more water will make it a little more thick)
  • Optional sweetener ingredients: 1 to 2 dates, honey, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and/or coconut sugar
  • Purium Twist: MVP Sport (Chocolate or Vanilla), Epi-Genius Kids or Rice Bran Solubles (a couple teaspoons should do, but this will change according to taste)
  • Blender of some sort
What To Do:
  1. Mix your water with your coconut and optional ingredients in your blender of choice. If you opted for 1 to 2 coconuts instead of shredded coconut, simply scrap out the inner white parts (you may include the meat if desired, but not the brown part).
  2. Blend at high speed.
  3. Drain your mix using a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or even a very thin towel.
  4. Add additional amounts of your extra ingredients if needed.
  5. Enjoy.

For a velvety, chocolate milk, we like Epi-Genius Kids. Rice Bran Solubles adds a silky, nut buttery feel to the milk.

Hemp Seed Milk

What You’ll Need:
hemp seed milk recipe
  • 1 to 2 cups hemp seeds
  • 3 to 4 cups of water
  • Optional sweetener ingredients: 1 date, honey, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and/or coconut sugar
What To Do:
  1. Add your hemp seeds into water and soak them for about 3 to 6 hours.
  2. After soaking, blend the mixture with your favorite add-ins.
  3. Enjoy!

You may strain your hemp seed and water mixture if needed. Don’t be afraid to mix things up with MVP Chocolate Vanilla AND Chocolate for a decadent tasting milk.

Looking to shake things up? Create a batch of both milks and mix them together for a smooth and creamy finish.
